Germany 4 Australia 0 (13th June, 2010)

At last a game with goals. Germany sent out a warning to their rivals at the World Cup by destroying Australia 4-0. Germany made it clear they meant business from the very beginning. Their class and skill were too much for the Australians. Lukas Podolski put Germany ahead in the 8th minute and Miroslav Klose made sure his team went into the break with a 2-0 lead. Australia’s Tim Cahill was sent off early in the second hard, perhaps rather harshly, for a clumsy tackle on Bastian Schweinsteiger. Germany pressed ahead with their one man advantage to score again in the 68th minute and again two minutes later. Germany were as efficient in defense, giving the Australians very few chances at goal. On this performance, my money’s now on Germany for the cup.
