Loneliness could increase the risk of dying early by 50%. Even people with family and friends can be lonely. There are also dangers with living alone and of having little or no contact with others. Research shows that the risk of dying early was 50% lower for people who mixed with their family and friends.

Researchers said loneliness could be more dangerous than obesity. Many countries are worrying about a 'loneliness epidemic'. This is a problem because people are getting older. A researcher said teachers and doctors should talk about loneliness to children and patients. People should prepare for their social life in their old age.
