The Reading / Listening - Level 1

Britain's Prince Harry wants military service to return. This is when people spend time in the army before work or university. In Britain, compulsory military service ended in 1960. Many countries still have it. Harry spent 10 years in the army. He said it helped him a lot and did "amazing things" for him. He said it keeps people out of trouble. Different people do it for different reasons". He added: "I've had an epic ten years….The Army keep giving me great jobs."

Prince Harry would encourage his niece and nephew (Prince George and Princess Charlotte) to join the army when they grow up. He said it helped people and made them stronger for life. He spoke about his own military service, saying: "It's done no harm, just good, for me….I would say enjoy the role, because at first it's just pressure…It's like any job - you've got to learn how to do it." He will work in Africa from now on conservation projects.
