2014 Brazil World Cup - Round-up 2

The 2014 FIFA World Cup is now in its second week and we have seen the first major shock. Reigning world champions Spain are out of the tournament after just two games. Their 2-0 defeat to Chile means they have no way of qualifying for the knock-out stages in the next round. They will play Australia for pride in their last game. Australia are also exiting the tournament and neither team will want to finish bottom of their group. Also out of the competition after eight days are Cameroon. The African team lost 4-0 to Croatia to end their hopes of progressing.

There is still no team that has really shone at this World Cup. The Netherlands, who thrashed Spain in their first game, had a scare against Australia. They had to fight back from a goal down and battle for a 3-2 win. Even hosts Brazil were held to a goalless draw against a very well-organised Mexico team in their second game. England, another pre-tournament favourite, look like they are on their way out. They need a miracle to go through after they lost to Uruguay 2-1 in Sao Paolo. Uruguay's striker Luis Suarez scored two brilliant goals to more or less end English hopes.
